When you’ve got kids then trips and falls, or dropped dishes are something you need to factor in.

Someone we talked to, with children aged 3 years and 18 months, and a high-end home shopped around extensively for flooring samples which they tested at home.

They were impressed by the Karndean tiles “springiness” and how comfortable they were underfoot. As the client said: ‘It’s four times as thick as our current vinyl flooring, and with a softer touch.”

As they’re using it in a heavy traffic area, durability was also a consideration.

He says the couple started with wanting a quality wood look but next on the list was comfort.

“The vinyl is warmer on our feet than tiles too!”
